“I was pleasantly surprised to discover that while this was a reformer class and I did get personal attention, it was so much more.” – Djuna.

“Even the most uncoordinated person can leave this class feeling like a ballerina!” – Keeley.

“I found the reformer both overwhelming and clarifying. It is an effective way to re-train the body to function with proper alignment and efficiency.” – Sharon

David Barton Gym CLASS LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED – Xpress Spin The Xtreme Spin class offered at David Barton Gym is a definite intermediate class.  The thing I love most about working out is the playlists that I create to pump me up at certain points when I know I’m going to be in need of a song [...]

Class Review: Soul Spin (Deb) @ Fusion Fitness Clubs

by Lisette - Intermediate / Advanced

Fusion Fitness Clubs

CLASS LEVEL: ALL LEVELS
I’d like to preface this review by saying this is not my first spin class. I have taken many before and can testify that they are a great way to work out and lose weight in an efficient way if taken regularly. This class, however, was in a league of its own! The instructor emphasized “soul” so the class was very inspirational and kept everyone in the room motivated. I have a knee injury and it often held me back during spin class. In order to maximize the effects of spin,

St. Regis Fitness Center

CLASS LEVEL: ALL LEVELS

Her lips, boobs, and blonde hair were all fake, but the results from the instructor’s killer core class were completely real. The nine women in this morning’s class came for no nonsense conditioning. The class began and ended with exercises that made your tummy, legs, and arms tremble.

Class Review: Exercise @ Ripley Grier Studios

by Carolyn M - Intermediate: dance/fitness

Ripley Grier Studios

CLASS LEVEL: OPEN

A class titled “Exercise” without any description should have been my first tip that this experience would be anything but typical. I arrived at their 72nd street location and the front desk guy wasn’t aware of the class I was asking for but directed me two flights up to a potential match. I knocked and found one woman who gave me a blank stare when I asked about the 9:30 “exercise” class. “Who’s the instructor?” she asked.

Class Review: Physique 57@ Physique 57

by Carolyn M - Intermediate: dance/fitness

Physique 57

CLASS LEVEL: BEGINNER
Operation “Look like Kelly Ripa” took two when I attended my second Physique 57 class (i.e., the fitness program she attributes her rock hard body to) at their original location on 57th St. The location itself was not as spacious or relaxing as their downtown location, but the clientele felt more approachable and was made up of “everyday women” in contrast to the elite, “I have money, time, and a full time nanny” crowd at the Spring street studio.

Class Review: Physique 57@ Physique 57

by Carolyn M - Intermediate: dance/fitness

Physique 57

CLASS LEVEL: BEGINNER

You have to tell me what you did to get that body, Erin! My girlfriend’s beach bod looked phenomenal and the most lean, strong, and toned I’ve ever seen it. She gushed about the success she had experienced with Physique 57 like an excited infomercial actress. From attending the 57 minute class twice a week, I could see results in her defined arms, trim waist, and tight legs.
