CLASS LEVEL: OPEN

This little firecracker of an instructor had moves that should make Shakira scared. The four middle aged women that made up the class all had the appropriate hip scarves and were practicing their routine from last week as I entered, a new comer, without a fancy hip scarf. We began with a nice stretch then worked on individual exercises (i.e., hip, shoulder, neck, and stomach isolations). We would do each exercise half time and then speed it up to double.

CLASS LEVEL: BEGINNING

Three steps and a hip shake, step shake, step shake. Which was simple enough if you were comfortable with isolating your hips and adding a little flair. She then showed a center combination that consisted of some basic hip movements and graceful arm swirls. The class ended with hip shakes that sped up until you shimmied off enough calories to eat that chocolate cake and need a deep tissue buttocks massage the next morning.
